Sakuran (さくらん ) is a 2007 Japanese film based on a Moyoco Anno manga and directed by Mika Ninagawa.
Plot[]
Sakuran is film based on the life of Japanese courtesans. Kiyoha (Anna Tsuchiya) begins her life as a courtesan from a young age working her way up to becoming Oiran (or "First flower", the title given to the most prized and cherished courtesan of the house). Kiyoha is very choosy about her customers and yearns to live a free life as she works her way to achieve rather than be paid off by a rich man to keep as his own.
